Your opportunity

 

The Head of Investment Operations leads and inspires Team Leads across Investment Operations, supporting Portfolio Management Teams to ensure seamless end-to-end operations. This role provides strategic direction and oversight, focusing on operational excellence, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. It requires extensive experience in global financial services and asset management—especially fixed income—and a deep understanding of operational and portfolio management functions. The Head fosters a collaborative, high-performing culture and serves as the main contact for senior stakeholders regionally and globally.

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a group of Team Leads, ensuring effective management and coverage across all operational areas.
  • Set the strategic direction for the department, aligning operational objectives with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the performance and development of teams covering Trade Operations, Asset Servicing, Investment Accounting (Reconciliations), Treasury Operations, Pricing & Valuations, Alternative Investment Operations.
  • Ensure operational excellence, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance across all teams.
  • Drive process improvements, innovation, and best practice sharing across the department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, portfolio management, technology, compliance, legal, and risk teams to develop and implement robust procedures and protocols.
  • Lead and support major operational projects, including the design, testing, and implementation of new processes and system enhancements.
  • Represent the Operations department in audits, regulatory reviews, and senior management forums.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a key point of escalation for complex operational issues.
  • Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures, ensuring best practice and continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Must have skills

 

  • Departmental Leadership: Proven experience leading a large, multi-disciplinary team within a global financial services or asset management environment. Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop others, fostering a collaborative and high-performing department culture.
  • Strategic Vision: Demonstrated ability to set and execute strategic objectives, drive change, and deliver results.
  • Broad Investment Operations Expertise: Significant experience across middle office processes, including but not limited to end-to-end trade lifecycle (trade capture, confirmation, settlement), collateral management, corporate actions, reconciliation, performance, and cash oversight (FX oversight, cash ladders and overdraft monitoring)
  • Deep investment product knowledge:  Strong understanding of financial instruments across equities, fixed income, derivatives, FX and alternatives including knowledge of various product offerings
  • Operational Control: Strong understanding of operational risk, control frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process enhancements to drive efficiency and mitigate risk.
  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with senior internal and external partners.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and effective interactions with stakeholders at all levels
