Your opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Equity Portfolio Manager to join our UK Small Cap Equities team.
The successful candidate will:
- Join as a Portfolio Manager on UK Small Cap Equities strategies, working alongside the existing team
- Ensure alignment with the firm’s investment strategy and performance targets
- Perform detailed fundamental research, including financial analysis and valuation of companies within the investment universe
- Conduct rigorous sector and market research to identify investment opportunities and understand risk factors
- Visit companies, attend industry conferences, and maintain dialogue with company management as part of formulating investment theses
- Monitor market trends and economic indications to anticipate changes impacting the portfolio
- Regularly present investment ideas and portfolio updates to senior management and stakeholders
- Pitch stocks for inclusion in the portfolio
- Collaborate with other team members to share insights, strategies and research findings
- Partner with other PMs to construct investment portfolios that align with the risk-return objectives, market conditions, and client mandates
- Monitor and adjust portfolio risk exposures using quantitative risk management techniques, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal risk guidelines
- Contribute to sales and relationship management, presenting to clients or providing updates (verbal and written)
- Carry out other duties as assigned

Must have skills
- UK Small Cap Equities Portfolio Management experience, with a strong track record of performance
- Investment Trust experience
- Experience in, and a clear approach to portfolio construction
- An approach to risk management that incorporates standard frameworks, such as portfolio-level factors and scenario analysis, as well as security-level risk management
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to conduct detailed financial analysis and valuation
- A deep understanding of the UK equity market, including sector-specific trends, regulatory environments, and key financial metrics
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present investment ideas and portfolio updates effectively
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, with the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and develop relationships internally and externally
Nice to have skills
- ACA or CFA qualification or equivalent preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or other related field
Investment areas

- Knowledge of financial markets, financial markets function and the impact of economic figures and national/regional/global events on markets
- Understanding of issues relating to market abuse and anti-money laundering
