Your opportunity

The Head of Technology Delivery Management is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring that the Technology Delivery organization at Janus Henderson operates with alignment, discipline, and measurable impact. Acting as a strategic execution partner to the Global Head of Technology Delivery, this leader drives operational excellence, strategic governance, and cross-functional cohesion across all value streams.

The role combines strategic operations, delivery governance, product leadership, and organizational management, ensuring that technology strategy is translated into clear, executable priorities. As the Guild Head for Product Owners, this leader will also shape and advance enterprise product management practices, strengthening how Janus Henderson delivers business and client outcomes through technology.

This is a high-visibility, enterprise platform role, ideal for a senior leader who thrives on structure, clarity, and execution within complex, fast-evolving organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Execution Management

  • Partner with the Global Head of Technology Delivery to translate strategic priorities into actionable delivery goals.
  • Drive alignment across value streams and ensure initiatives are executed with discipline, transparency, and measurable outcomes.
  • Oversee delivery performance, capacity planning, and budget execution, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
  • Identify interdependencies and risks across programs; implement governance frameworks to manage escalation and resolution.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews, OKR cycles, and delivery health assessments across the Technology Delivery leadership team.

Delivery Governance & Operational Rhythm

  • Establish and manage the operating cadence for the Technology Delivery function, including leadership meetings, steering forums, and program reviews.
  • Develop and maintain standardized delivery dashboards, metrics, and portfolio reports that provide executive visibility into performance, capacity, and outcomes.
  • Ensure portfolio-level visibility into resource utilization, cost optimization, and value realization.
  • Partner with Finance and PMO functions to align delivery spend with strategic value and ROI.

Product Owner Guild Leadership

  • Serve as the Guild Head for Product Owners, defining standards, frameworks, and tools that strengthen product ownership across the firm.
  • Build and lead the Product Owner community of practice, embedding consistency in backlog management, prioritization, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Partner with HR and delivery leaders to establish career paths, mentoring programs, and professional development frameworks for Product Owners.
  • Champion a product mindset that emphasizes business outcomes, client value, and continuous improvement.

Organizational Effectiveness & Change Leadership

  • Drive initiatives that enhance team performance, collaboration, and engagement across the Technology Delivery function.
  • Lead organizational change efforts, ensuring new structures, guilds, and delivery practices are adopted effectively.
  • Support communication and engagement strategies for internal audiences, including ExCo, Townhalls, and leadership updates.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and psychological safety within delivery teams.

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Oversee relationships with external vendors and delivery partners, ensuring value realization through SLAs and performance metrics.
  • Partner with Procurement and Finance to manage vendor budgets, renewals, and strategic sourcing for delivery support services.

Risk & Governance Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to technology governance, audit, and compliance frameworks.
  • Partner with Risk and Information Security teams to align delivery practices with regulatory and operational resilience requirements.
  • Support readiness for internal and external audits by maintaining disciplined documentation and control standards.

Special Projects & Enterprise Initiatives

  • Lead or co-lead high-priority cross-functional initiatives that span multiple technology and business domains.
  • Provide leadership coverage or execution oversight for mission-critical programs when required.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in technology delivery, product management, or strategic program leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience managing delivery portfolios, budgets, and capacity planning in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Proven ability to drive alignment, execution, and accountability across diverse delivery teams.
  • Experience leading communities of practice (Product Owner, Scrum Master, or Delivery Guilds) and implementing scaled agile models.
  • Strong understanding of delivery performance measurement, including KPI design and dashboard implementation.

 

Preferred Experience

 

  • Master’s degree (MBA or related technical discipline) preferred.
  • Prior experience in financial services, asset management, or another regulated industry.
  • Deep familiarity with Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery frameworks in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience managing vendors or global delivery partners, with strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Exposure to technology risk management, compliance, and operational resilience frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and organizational change.

 

Technical Skills

 

  • Strong working knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks, product lifecycle management, and technology portfolio governance.
  • Familiarity with modern delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Aha!, Azure and DevOps.
  • Understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure), DevOps practices, and modern application architectures.
  • Ability to interpret delivery metrics, resource data, and cost drivers to inform decision-making and optimize performance.
