Your opportunity

 

The Residential Whole Loan Trader will be responsible for working directly with portfolio managers to model, price, and analyze residential whole loan pools, including jumbo loans, non-QM loans, closed-end second liens, and HELOCs. This role requires expertise in loan-level modeling, risk measurement and management, and market analysis to optimize trading strategies and portfolio performance.

 

  • Loan Pool Analysis: Collaborate with portfolio managers to model, price, and analyze residential whole loan pools, including various loan types such as jumbo, non-QM, closed-end second liens, and HELOCs.
  • Modeling Workflow: Establish behavioral model forecasts at the loan level, conduct stress and scenario analysis, and evaluate the relative value of various forms of debt and securitization structural features.
  • Post-Acquisition Surveillance: Monitor portfolio performance post-acquisition, track performance against expectations and market benchmarks.
  • Coordination: Work closely with portfolio management, operations, and transaction management teams to ensure successful execution of trading strategies.
  • Risk Management: Coordinate with risk management to design and implement hedging programs on the loan portfolio, and track P&L and hedges effectively.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, pricing dynamics, and regulatory changes to inform and adjust trading strategies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant industry regulations and company policies.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply cashflow modeling, statistical and econometric modeling, aided by software like IntexCalc, IntexDealmaker, YieldBook, and Bloomberg to analyze whole loan pools and price and model risk
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

Must have skills

 

  • Previous trading experience in residential whole loans.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in mathematics, technical sciences, business, finance or economics
  • Minimum of five years trading experience required
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg and other market data platforms, including execution platforms
  • Knowledge of Intex Solutions, Yield Book and other applications applicable to role
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time and risk accordingly
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Independent judgement with strong analytical and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to build key internal relationships with Fund Managers and external relationships with brokers

 

Nice to have skills

 

  • Programming skills (C#, Python, VBA) strongly preferred
  • Derivatives and FX experience, including swaps, futures and forwards strongly desired

Compensation information

 

The base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $210,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.  This role will remain open through August 2025.
